Sunshine and Happiness Book Two

How can you lose one dream and still find another?

Owen King is a lonely history teacher who wants to be braver. So when Owen learns about the deceased brother he never met, he breaks free of his safety net and risks answers. Despite his loving, adopted family, Owen wonders if there are missing pieces inside of him. Visiting the seaside town of Ocean Vista, where his brother lived and died, will be no vacation.

Andrew Teagan wants to be a winner. After being dumped by his last boyfriend, Andrew is through letting others dictate his life. To prove that dreams are possible, he’s going after his ambitions full force. Having signed on for a cooking reality show, Andrew’s ready to make his small café into a sizzling success.

When Andrew aids Owen on the beach, what starts off as an act of kindness turns into a hot temptation. But can a sweet budding romance survive when the time comes for Owen to leave town? Both men must learn to trust each other if their love will conquer the miles between them.

Lovers Losers and You Sunshine and Happiness Book 2 edition by Skylar M Cates Literature Fiction eBooks

This is just not as good as The Guy series. Both this one and the first book are too long for the story being told. I was bored reading this. I never felt any real emotion, tension, or excitement was being conveyed. Andrew and Owen were both supposed to be feeling angst over situations with their families. Andrew was competing in a cooking show. Owen was concerned about his teaching position. But it all felt so flat. It seemed to take so long to convey the details of each event. Then there were incidents with a new character, Morgan. The same thing was happening with Tomas and Marc as the last book and it was all mentioned or discussed over and over. The dialogue and narrative were tedious. They did this and then they did that, and then the same thing repeated again a different way. Too many sex scenes were packed in, too and ended up being bland and repetitive. No passion, no real emotion was felt, just described. I'm not sure I'll continue with this series.

Lovers Losers and You Sunshine and Happiness Book 2 edition by Skylar M Cates Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

"Love, loss and figuring out who you want to be."
What did you like best about Lovers, Losers, and You? What did you like least?
I liked Owen and how he grew as a character from where he was when the book started, and where he was by the end. He matured and evolved a lot.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lovers, Losers, and You?
That the "face value" of the characters wound up being different than one would think.

How could the performance have been better?
Bradley was waaaaaay too theatrical... or dare I say, satirical.

Did Lovers, Losers, and You inspire you to do anything?
Not really.

Any additional comments?
I absolutely loved the first book in this series and wanted to continue the story, though this book could be listened to or read as a stand alone. I did not care for the narration. As I said above, Bradley's tones and inflections didn't really fit with what they should have been. Of course, this is just my opinion. I could tell by the content though, that this was another amazing story of love, loss and figuring out who you are in relation to who you think you want to be. So, my suggestion would be to read this one.

This was a difficult story for me to get into at first. I am not sure if it is because there were so many characters to get a grasp on or if it is because I did not read the first book of this series. (I hope to change that soon.) As I got into the story however, the men of this story soon became very real. Each one of them has their own individual personality with a heart wrenching story. This story mainly takes place on the sunny shore of Ocean Vista, Florida. Owen a history teacher from Georgia is visiting the group of men that lived and loved the brother that died before he had the opportunity to meet him. Owen was adopted and found out about the brother who recently died in a tragic cycling accident. The men from Ocean Vista are complicated and there is an attraction to one in particular, Andrew, the cafe owner. There is a strong chemistry between Andrew and Owen that grows stronger with each passing day of Owen’s visit. This story has a pretty even pacing that keeps the reader/listener interested for the duration of the story. The ending is very good with glimpses of what is to come in future stories. There is a strong character development in the main characters as well as the secondary characters. I know that I want to read more of this true to life story. Also I am amazed at the subtle differences that the narrator, Hugh Bradley, was able to portray in each voice for each character. Although, as I mentioned, I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of characters in this book, Bradley made it easy to differentiate each character.

I did enjoy the book. It tried to have some deeper themes, but the truth is, it was a fluffy romance. There were several places where I think it might have ended, but like Old Man River it just keeps rolling along.
It was nice Andrew and Owen got their story. Really sad reliving the tragedy.
Cannot wait for the other guys' HEA
So curious about Marc and Tomas.....
This series keeps getting better, this book touches about how the guys are coping since the death of Brenden and how his birth brother, Owen, comes over to Ocean Vista to learn about the brother he had never met and it is on this trip that he meets Andrew, owner of 'The Busy Day Cafe'. After several chance meetings they come up with the conclusion that they were meant to be. And this is their story. It is a very touching story as we see how the guys are dealing and struggling with their grief. Some better than others and their once tight home becomes strained but through it all, Andrew and Owen still manage to navigate their way to find their own happily ever after. Definitely looking forward to reading Marc and Tomas's story. Hopefully that'll be the next story.
Hate to do this, folks. But sometimes it makes more sense for me to review the first two books in a series as one review, so here goes

Here For You introduces us to two completely screwed up and two almost stable roommates--and one or two who might like to pry them apart or join them. The tragedy that occurs is overwhelming for all of them, and redemptive for one or two. The love story which emerges is deeply angsty in some respects, over-the-moon in others.

Lovers, Losers and You brings us two bridges from the first book, one who wasn't really part of it but who seals the way for the other to cross over his great divide. It is sweeter than the first book in many respects, but owes its credibility to that book.

Here's hoping for a third.
